Being a firefighter in Charlottetown doesn’t mean waiting for the alarm to go off. There’s also plenty of training.

In March, training consisted of pre-fire tours, CPR, ventilation, fire control, water supply, Saving Your Own Drills, JPRs practice, ground and aerial apparatus ladder drills and resilient minds training (mental health).

Four members attended a fire attack course, four completed the ice rescue course, three completed a medical first responders course, seven completed the Hazmat awareness course and seven members continue on the emergency service instructor course.

The five new recruits continue on their level 1 training with the field portion. The city reports all are doing well. Personnel training hours for this reporting period were 587.
