Rustico’s Jenna-Marie Gallant to open for award-winning singer-songwriter

ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. – Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Ryan Cook will perform Friday, May 18, in the Angèle Arsenault Hall at the Village musical acadien, beginning at 8 p.m.

With more than 20 music nominations in Canada, including three awards for album of the year from Music Nova Scotia and one from the East Coast Music Association, Cook mixes classic country music with modern satire to forge a sound between contemporary folk and traditional country. He has shared the stage with artists like Dwight Yoakam, Rosanne Cash and Travis Tritt and has performed tributes to Hank Williams Sr., Merle Travis, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. His acoustic show combines guitar styles, original folk ballads and vintage music from the 1940s and 1950s.

The opening act is Jenna-Marie Gallant from Rustico, a 19-year-old singer-songwriter writes who writes lyrics and shares songs that are both personal in nature, yet intimately touch the hearts of her listeners. She started writing music at the age of 11 and quickly showed an ability to express her ideas and emotions that were beyond her years. She has shared the stage with several Island musicians, including Lennie Gallant, Ashley Condon, Meaghan Blanchard and Michael Pendergast. Now in university, she hopes to record her first album soon.

Organizers are excited about the concert.

"We hope that all country music fans and all those who are curious about Ryan Cook and the young Jenna-Marie Gallant will come to this show that promises to be a great evening," says Marcel Bernard, president of the Village musical acadien.

Tickets are available at the door or from the website, ryancook.ca.
