When “The Launch” is aired on CTV this Wednesday, all eyes will be on Dylan Menzie.

The P.E.I. singer-songwriter is one of 30 artists chosen from 10,000 applicants to participate in the six-part artist discovery show.

During the Jan. 25 episode, he and four other musical acts will audition for the opportunity to record and perform a new, original song by world famous songwriter-producers.

Along with Amy Bishop, Chad Price, Sons of Daughters and The Static Shift, he will be mentored by music mogul Scott Borchetta, Mötley Crüe founding member Nikki Sixx and top producer Dann Huff during a musical adventure.

Under a nail-biting 48-hour deadline, the artists are narrowed down to two, with only one landing the opportunity of a lifetime each week – the chance to record an original song and have their music career launched.

But, Menzie is sworn to secrecy about the show, which was taped in Toronto this past fall.

“I can’t say anything about it, so I’m going to have to leave you in the dark. It was a really positive environment – everybody was really there for the music, to…push you further,” he told CBC Charlottetown in a recent interview.

Immediately after the broadcast, which airs at 10 p.m., “The Launch: Director’s Cut” will be available on various platforms including CTV.ca, CTV GO and CraveTV.

It will feature extended auditions of all five artists from the episode.
