St. James Presbyterian Church, (the Kirk), will be hosting a Quebec choir, les Chanteurs de Lorraine, on Sunday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m.

In this magnificent historical church at 35 Fitzroy St., this four-part harmony choir will sing the fifth concert of their Quebec-Maritime tour, presenting an engaging program of diverse types of music.

They are presenting to a discerning audience excerpts from the “Messe de la Deliverance’ by Theodore Dubois, in which the Latin text expresses at times joyfully exuberant music, but also music that is contemplative and comforting to the soul. In addition, they will perform airs from opera, gospel, traditional and modern songs from the Maritimes and the rest of Canada, sung in English, French, and Italian.

Directed by Sandra Penner, les Chanteurs de Lorraine will be accompanied by their pianist Ariane Benoit Bastien; soloists Claudia Giuliani, soprano, and Christian Morasse, baritone.

Admission is by donation to the Kirk’s Choral Scholarships.
