CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Songwriter Jeanette Arsenault, who has deep P.E.I. roots, has penned an original composition called “This Is My Canada” for the country’s 150th birthday.

She is donating proceeds from the project to local, regional and national charities.

Arsenault is the niece of iconic artist Angèle Arsenault, and has performed the song for the Canadian Olympics team in Salt Lake City in 2002 and Athens, Greece in 2004, as well as several venues nationally. Her parents are both Islanders and her family’s ties in this province go back to the 1600s.

“Angèle was my mother's sister and my hero,” said Arsenault. “I am doing what I do because of Angèle.”

Arsenault is creating a professional recording of “This Is My Canada,” with multiple industry professionals and Juno-award winning session musicians lined up to participate.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been created, and everyone who contributes will receive a specially packaged, limited-edition, personally autographed CD single of the brand new version, including all four versions of the song: English, French, bilingual and a bonus instrumental performance track.

The music video will be produced by Randall P. Dark, the pioneer of HDTV and an accomplished documentary filmmaker, writer, director and producer.
