The fifth animal to be profiled in the 2015 edition of the 12 Strays of Christmas is Henry, a two-month-old brown, black and white American guinea pig.

He loves napping in his pigloo and munching on Timothy hay.

Guinea pigs are sweet little animals that although shy, are intensely curious and highly social.

Henry needs a loving home that will give him lots of tender loving care.

Holiday tip #5: A lot of noise and strange people in the house can be distressing to your pet.

Ensure they have a place to stay that is free from the hustle and bustle of company.

It's a good idea to have your pet in this location during mealtimes to keep away from spills and ingesting table food.

Children should always be supervised around pets. For more information about the adoptable animals at the shelter, visit www.peihumanesociety.com or call 902-892-1190, ext 21.

The 12 Strays of Christmas, a special feature produced by the P.E.I. Humane Society and The Guardian, will appear periodically during the holiday season.
