A cell tower by Rogers Wireless rises on land owned by East Link in this photo taken June 2 this year behind the Charlottetown Mall. Faintly visible on the lower left of the photo, a wild fox sits on the edge of the cell-tower field, contemplating its next move. The cell tower has drawn vigorous protest from a group saying that international research shows that long-term exposure to the energy from cell towers greatly increases cancer risk.

IRAC will not hear Charlottetown cell tower controversy Breaking News print this article

The Guardian

IRAC has ruled it does not have the jurisdiction to hear an appeal on a decision to issue a building permit for the construction of a telecommunications tower in Charlottetown.
The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission issued its ruling Friday.
City resident Catherine Mullally was appealing a decision by the municipality to issue a building permit to the developer Rogers Communication Inc. for the construction of a 45 metre self supporting cell phone tower with a 10 foot by 10 foot equipment shelter at 185 Mount Edward Rd.
Mullally and other residents are worried about negative health effects from the proposed tower's radio waves.

Nuggz Nuggz from Summerside, PEI writes: Why are they so worked up about one cell tower? Do they not realize that there are well over 100 of them on PEI now, and they all emit radiation. Get over it.

Health Priority from PEI writes: The City nor the Government should allow this Cell Tower to be built on this piece of property!

Even the picture above shows clearly how close it is to Residential Houses and also a Sports Field that young people use.

Do our Citizens have NO RIGHTS?? We pay taxes for what reason??

Along with this Mega Tower causing Health Risks to those living near it there is also the factor that this Cell Tower will reduce property values in that area!!!

Who would want one in their back yard? This Cell Tower Project should have never bee allowed to start. Ane why the HEY is some Government Office off Island authorized to make the decision as to whether it get built there or not???

Our City and Government should be up in arms over this but they both have their arms folded! Another clear example that our City and Government have no level of concern about our Citizens Health and Safety! Yet, they're working fast and furiously on a Legal Suit to Sue the Tobacco Companies!!!! Can our City and Goverment's Priorities get anymore controversial??

SHOCKING!

READER FEEDBACK
What is your opinion of the 30-page application form to be filled out by potential leadership candidates for the Progressive Conservative Party of P.E.I.?

This is a great idea. The party should know all that it can about their next leader.
It is a bit excessive. Is it really relevant to know whether a potential leader cheated on a high school exam?
