The Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. invites participants to this year’s newly branded Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s. Walks take place on May 27 at the Victoria Park pavilion in Charlottetown and the walking track at Credit Union Place in Summerside.

“We are grateful to partner with Investors Group for our Walk for Alzheimer’s,” said CEO of the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I., Corrine Hendricken-Eldershaw. “The Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. receives only a small percentage of our funding from government, so this fundraiser is critical for the programs and services we offer to Islanders”

The annual nation-wide fundraiser aims to support people living with dementia, and their caregivers to raise funds for local programs and services.

Registration and check-in is at noon, welcome and warmup is at 12:30 p.m. with the Walk starting at 1 p.m. After the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s, there will be prizes given out for top fundraisers.

More than 2,500 people in Prince Edward Island are living with dementia and this number continues to grow. Currently, there are no cures or effective treatments to delay or stop the disease

“Investors Group is proud to support the Alzheimer Society and their outstanding efforts to improve the quality of life for Canadian families living with dementia,” said Jeff Carney, president and CEO of Investors Group and IGM Financial. “We all know someone touched by this disease. Through our clients, we see first-hand the emotional and financial challenges this critical health issue presents for families. I know our employees and financial advisers across the country look forward to making these walks a success, delivering funds and advice to Canadians in need.”
