The 11th animal to be profiled in the 2017 edition of the 12 Strays of Christmas is Nila, a gorgeous three-year-old light-coloured calico cat. She is not a lap cat but likes the company of people and has just finished caring for her six kittens. Nila has lived with other cats and dogs and is now ready to relax in a new home.
Adoption tip #11: After you have had your fill of holiday turkey, ham, chicken and/or roast beef make sure to throw those bones away – do not give them to your pet! You might think you are giving them a treat, but actually you may be threatening their health. Bones can splinter easily and cause damage to your pet’s throat and intestines.
The 12 Strays of Christmas is a joint project between The Guardian and the P.E.I. Humane Society. For more information, contact the P.E.I. Humane Society at www.peihumanesociety.com or 902-892-1190.
