Ask an Islander

Ambassadors on P.E.I. – including musicians, historians, writers, golfers, chefs speak with potential visitors

Tourism P.E.I.’s Ask an Islander campaign was recently recognized with a North American Excellence Award that honours outstanding achievements in the field of public relations and communications.

The campaign received the nod in the travel and tourism category.

The campaign, managed through Zeno Group Canada, hired ambassadors from all walks of life in Prince Edward Island – including musicians, historians, writers, golfers and chefs to speak with potential visitors.

After just a few weeks into the campaign, it was so successful that additional ambassadors had to be hired to keep up with demand.

Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Heath MacDonald, says Ask an Islander will return this year.

"What better way to learn more about a travel destination, than to ask the very people that live there?" MacDonald said. "The campaign was a huge success last year, and as such, we are thrilled to run it again this year.”
