P.E.I. FC begins play in N.B. senior soccer league this weekend

The new McCain New Brunswick Premier Soccer League season begins today with the league’s annual kickoff tournament in Moncton.

P.E.I. FC, the Island entry, plays Saturday at 10 a.m. against Dartmouth FC in the eight-team event. Two games are scheduled for today.

Championship and consolation semifinals are Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.

Sunday, the consolation final is at 9 a.m., followed by the seventh-place game at 11 a.m.

The bronze-medal game is 1 p.m. and the gold-medal game is at 3 p.m.

League teams at the event also include Codiac First Touch, Fredericton Picaroons, FDSA Wanderers and Fundy United. Invited teams are Team N.B. U-18, Valley United and Dartmouth FC.

P.E.I. FC opens league play at home Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, versus Fundy United. Games are 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at UPEI.
