Birt to play defending champion for right to represent P.E.I. at national curling tournament

There will be lots of experience in tonight’s Scotties Tournament of Heart provincial women’s curling final.

Nine-time champion Kim Dolan will meet six-time winner Suzanne Birt at 7 p.m. at the Charlottetown Curling Complex. Dolan is the defending champ while Birt went undefeated (4-0) this week.

Dolan went 2-2 in round robin play, won the tiebreaker and beat Kathy O’Rourke 7-3 in Sunday’s semifinal.

Dolan scored deuces in the second and eighth ends and singles in the fourth, seventh and ninth ends.

O’Rourke replied with a deuce in the third and a single in the fifth.

Tonight’s winning team advances to the national Scotties, Feb. 16 to 24, in Kingston Ont.

    WHAT WOULD THE DOLAN RINK HAVE DONE IF THEY WON THE FINAL?? KIM SAID AT THE NATIONAL LAST YEAR SHE WAS RETIRING????
