Island Storm opens new season on home court

The National Basketball League of Canada released the 2014-15 schedule Wednesday and Island Storm open the 32-game season Thursday, Nov. 6, at home versus the Saint John Mills Rats.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.

The Storm, last year’s Atlantic Division champion and league finalist, has other schedule highlights including the Boxing Day game on Friday, Dec. 26, the New Year’s Eve game on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and the Islander Day game on Monday, Feb. 16.

Also on tap is a home rematch against the Windsor Express, which beat the Storm in seven games in last year’s championship series, on Friday, Jan. 16.

The Storm finishes the season with a four-game homestand.

The team’s home schedule of 16 games includes one Wednesday game,

four Thursday games, three Friday games, two

Saturday games and five Sunday games.

All Sunday games and the Boxing Day game begin at 2 p.m. The rest tip off at 7 p.m.

The Storm will face each Atlantic Division team four times at home and four times on the road.

It will play team from the Central Division once at home and once away.

Atlantic Division teams also include the Halifax Rainmen and the Moncton Miracles while the Central Division also houses the Mississauga Power, the Brampton A’s and the London Lightning.

The Ottawa franchise has been removed by the league for failing to meet a financial deadline to the league.

Season ticket packages will be available around Labour Day weekend.
