Charlottetown native Emily Cairns has signed a national letter of intent to join the Williston State College Tetons for the 2014-2015 softball season.

Cairns, a shortstop from Charlottetown Rural High School, was named to the P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior AAA all-star teams from 2011-13.

“I’m very lucky to have found WSC which can offer me the opportunity to play the sport I love and provide me with the foundation to further my pursuit of becoming a speech language pathologist,” stated Cairns in a release.

Williston State College is in North Dakota and is coached by Scott Wachholz.

“Emily is a very versatile player and will be able to wear many hats here at WSC,” said Wachholz. “She also has a great bat and will have an opportunity to contribute right away in our lineup.”

Cairns will join Charlottetown pitcher Alyssa Affleck on the Tetons roster.
