Islanders square off against Titan tonight in QMJHL action

The Charlottetown Islanders hit the ice again tonight against the Acadia-Bathurst Titan.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League contest.

The Titan downed Charlottetown 3-2 in a shootout Saturday in Charlottetown.

Charlottetown (19-36-2-5) is 15th overall with 45 points while Acadia-Bathurst (20-37-4-2) is 14th overall with 46 points. The Islanders have a game in hand over the Titan, which is coming off a 3-1 win over Saint John on Sunday.

Because of schedule changes, tickets for the March 1 or Feb. 14 games can be used for tonight’s game.

In league news, Rimouski netminder Philippe Desrosiers was named the QMJHL goalie of the month for February after going 9-0, including three shutouts, with a 0.94 goals against-average and a .965 save percentage and setting a new league record for shutout minutes (243 minutes, 35 seconds.

He gave up more than one goal in only two of his nine starts.

Meanwhile, Desrosiers, Rouyn-Noranda’s Marcus Power and Val-d’Or’s Anthony Mantha are the league's first, second and third stars of the month, respectively, for February.
