High school basketball teams to play for senior AAA medals today

The Three Oaks Axewomen will be going for their third consecutive P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior AAA girls’ basketball championship tonight.

The Axewomen will meet their arch-rivals, Colonel Gray Colonels, in the gold-medal game.

The opening tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The boys’ final, which will follow at 8 p.m., will feature an all-Charlottetown battle between the Colonel Gray Colonels and Charlottetown Rural Raiders.

The two bronze-medal games will precede the two championship matches. In the third-place games, the Bluefield girls will take on Charlottetown Rural at 2 p.m., and the Westisle boys will meet Three Oaks in an all-Prince County clash at

4 p.m.

All of today’s games are being played at Holland College in Charlottetown.


The PEISAA announced in a media release on Monday night that tickets for the AAA gold-medal games will be sold in the following manner:

After the completion of the boys’ bronze-medal game at 4 p.m., the gym area will be cleared and fans can then purchase tickets for the finals and enter the gym area.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
