Southside can sweep semifinal series on Saturday

TIGNISH – The Southside Lynx could call it a total team effort.

The Lynx received goals from 11 different players in an 11-1 triumph over the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces on Friday night. The win gives the Lynx a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

Southside will have an opportunity to complete the sweep on home ice at the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud on Saturday at 7:50 p.m.

At the Tignish Credit Union Arena, the Lynx jumped out to a 3-0 lead 5:26 into the game, and never looked back. Southside went on to build period leads of 5-0 and 9-1.

Joe Donelle (1-1), Colton Dawson (1-1), Brady VanderVelden (1-1), Brandon Green (1-1), Ivan MacPhail (1-1), Alex Leard (1-1), CJ McCardle (1-1), Cole Hawes, Michael Lawless, Rourke Perry and Logan Vandervelden dented the twine for the Lynx.

Connor Perry netted the lone Aces’ goal.

Winning goaltender was Jordan Zember.
