The UPEI Panthers will finish the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey season in sixth place.
They will play the Acadia Axemen in the first round, but the playoff schedule will not be released until this weekend.
The Panthers lost 4-1 Friday to the UNB Varsity Reds to conclude the regular season.
Francis Beauvillier and Cameron Braes gave the Reds a 2-0 lead after the first period at MacLauchlan Arena.
Braes and Nick Parker exchanged second period goals while former Panther Alex Wall added a third-period tally into the empty net.
Ryan MacKinnon and Sam Aulie had assists for UPEI.
Etienne Marcoux stopped all nine shots he faced for the win before giving way to Alex Dubeau to start the second period. Dubeau made 16 saves in relief while Mavric Parks allowed three goals on 27 shots in the loss.
UNB was 1-for-5 on the power play while UPEI was 0-for-2.
UNB improved to 23-3-2 while UPEI is 11-14-3.
