Pownal's consistency does in Capitals

Steady scoring did in the Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals as the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils earned a 6-3 road victory in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Wednesday in Summerside.

Barrington Duffy and Connor Gray scored in the first period, Gray and Ethan Affleck (1-1) connected in the second frame, while Andrew MacKinnon and Dalton Killorn netted third-period goals.

Gray also added an assist for Pownal, which led 4-3 after two periods. The game was tied 2-2 at the first intermission.

The Caps outshot Pownal 34-26. Each team went 1-for-4 on the power play.

Cameron Gillis, Tristan Gallant and Logan Vandervelden had the Caps goals. Sam McNeill chipped in two assists.

Colby Landrigan earned the win over Jaxon Lamont.

On Tuesday in Cornwall, the Charlottetown Brighton Construction Abbies unhinged the Mid-Isle Matrix with four, first-period goals and cruised to a 5-0 shutout victory.

Gavin Hickey, Alex Young, Tyler Hashmi (1-1) and Andrew Campbell (1-2) lit the red lamp in the first. Kyle Doucette (1-1) added a third-period marker for Charlottetown, which went 1-for-7 on the power play.

Connor Campbell earned the win over Jean-Luc Duguay for his first shutout of the season.
