Maritime Hockey North Junior C Hockey Championship

Alex Armstrong’s second goal of the game was the winner as the Spryfield Silver and Black Attack defeated the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces 3-2 Friday at the Maritime Hockey North Junior C Hockey Championships.

The Aces are 1-3 at the five-team tournament in Liverpool, N.S. The Spryfield, N.S., team improved to 2-0-1 heading into Friday’s final game of preliminary play against the host South Shore Wild (0-3).

Against the Aces, the Attack led 2-0 after the first period. Tignish replied with two in the middle frame to send the game to the third period tied 2-2.

Alex Brennan and Troy Gallant scored for the Aces while Lucas Gaudet, Slade Handrahan, Brett Gallant and Jacob LeClair had assists.

Chase Dyment made 27 saves in the loss.

The semifinals are Saturday while the championship is Sunday at 2 p.m.
