Maritime Hockey North Junior C Hockey Championship

The Tignish Aces dropped a 5-0 decision to Hockey North’s Kivalliq Canucks Wednesday in the opening game of the Maritime Hockey North Junior C Championship in Liverpool, N.S.

Nate and Matt Gardner each had a goal and an assist in the win while Roy Kopak, K.J. Putulik and Tyler Tattuinee also scored and Joseph Kopak had two helpers for the Nunavut squad.

Chase Dyment made 44 saves in the loss for the Aces.

The Aces return to action Thursday at noon against New Brunswick’s Hampton Hurricanes.
