Moncton beats Kensington

The Fredericton Canadiens beat the Charlottetown Mark’s Work Wearhouse Islanders 3-2 in a shootout Saturday in New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League action.

Shawn Corney and Johnathon Larter on the power play scored for the host Islanders. Calen MacInnis, Cody McPhee and Hunter McIntyre had assists.

David Comeau and Taylor LeBlanc scored power-play goals in regulation for Fredericton.

Aidan Critchlow made 33 saves in the win while Sam Walsh stopped 38 shots in the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first while the Islanders took a 2-1 lead to the third.

Fredericton improved to 9-16-0-1 while Charlottetown falls to 4-17-0-4.

The Islanders host the Moncton Flyers Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at MacLauchlan Arena.

 

Moncton 6, Kensington 1

The Moncton Flyers scored three goals in each of the first two period to defeat the visiting Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild 6-1.

Alexandre Bernie had two goals to lead the way while singles went to Liam Conrad, Patrick Landry, Ryan Chiasson and Zach Adams.

Max Morrison from Michael Evoy on the power play accounted for the Wild’s goal.

Maxim Landry made 22 saves for the victory while Bradley Shea stopped 21 shots in the loss.

Moncton is 18-8-0-0 while Kensington is 10-13-0-2.

Kensington host the Canadiens at 2 p.m.
