Blainville-Boisbriand, Que. — The best team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League blew a 2-2 game wide open with a four-goal third period Friday night to beat the Charlottetown Islanders 6-2.
Three of those third-period goals were unassisted and the Armada used a balanced attack. No player had more than one goal.
Tyler Brown (1-1), David Bedard, Joel Caron, Guillaume Bergeron, Danick Martel and Marcus Hinds found the net for the Armada.
Alexandre Goulet and Matej Beran replied for the Islanders who held a 2-1 lead in this game for more than five minutes in the second period.
Charlottetown outshot Blainville-Boisbriand 30-22. The Islanders dominated the second period, outshooting the Armada 16-3.
The Islanders failed to score in three power-play opportunities while the Armada connected once in five chances.
Antoine Bibeau started for Charlottetown before getting the hook after allowing four goals on 17 shots. Eric Brassard came on, allowing one goal on four shots. Etienne Marcoux made 30 saves to pick up the win for the Armada.
Yan-Pavel Laplante and Julien Leduc weren't in the lineup Friday night. Sources say the pair will be part of a trade once the trade window opens at 1 p.m. Atlantic time on Sunday.
The Islanders are back in action today on the road in Shawinigan. Game time is 5 p.m. Charlottetown returns to the Eastlink Centre on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. against Acadie-Bathurst.
