Danault has four-point night for Wildcats

Phillip Danault scored on the first shot of overtime as the Moncton Wildcats beat the P.E.I. Rocket 4-3 Saturday in Moncton.

The goal came 23 seconds into the fourth period while on the power play after Rocket goalie Antoine Bibeau was given two minutes for interference with three seconds to go in the third period. It was Danault’s second goal and fourth point of the night.

Anthony Cortese, Troy Vance and Louick Marcotte scored for the Rocket while Erik Robichaud, Deverick Ottereyes, Ben Duffy, Josh Currie and Victor Provencher had assists.

Yannick Veilleux and Dmitrij Jaskin scored the other Wildcats’ goals.

Alex Dubeau made 22 of 25 saves for the victory while Bibeau stopped 19 shots in the loss.

The game was scoreless after the first while the Rocket held a 3-2 lead after two.

The Rocket fall to 33-22-3 while Moncton improves to 37-20-1.

P.E.I. is back in action Sunday when it hosts Cape Breton at 3 p.m. It is the club's anti-bullying game where youth wearing pink anti-bullying shirts get in for $2 while students, wearing such a shirt, get in for $5
