Men's hockey team drops second in as many nights in New Brunswick
Cam Critchlow and Antoine Houde-Caron scored 19 seconds apart in the third period as the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds downed the UPEI Panthers 5-2 Saturday in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action in Fredericton.
The Panthers trailed 2-0 midway through the game before Jordan Mayer and Travis McIsaac scored 2:23 apart to tie the contest heading to the third.
Critchlow scored the game-winning goal 6:55 into the final frame.
Houde-Caron had two goals while Nick MacNeil and Montrose's Colby Pridhmam each had a goal and an assist.
Chris Desousa, Cole MacMillan and Reggie Traccitto had assists for the Panthers.
Daniel Lacosta stopped 19 shots for the win while Wayne Savage made 34 saves in the loss.
The conference-leading Varsity Reds improve to 22-5 while UPEI falls to 14-11-2.
It is the second loss of the weekend for the Panthers, who dropped a 5-0 decision Friday night in Moncton, N.B.
UPEI returns home to host St. Thomas (3-22-1) Friday at 7 p.m. in their last regular season game.
In Saturday's other games, Saint Mary's blanked Acadia 3-0 and St. F.X. beat Dalhousie 2-1.
Moncton plays St. Thomas on Sunday at 2 p.m.
