P.E.I. rink upends Team Canada

OTTAWA – Team P.E.I.’s Adam Casey rink is in the win column at the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier.

Casey scored a deuce with last-rock advantage in the 10th end to pull out a 6-4 victory over Team Canada’s Pat Simmons at the Canadian men’s curling championship on Monday afternoon.

Casey, third stone David Mathers, second Anson Carmody and lead Robbie Doherty improved to 1-3 (won-lost) while handing Team Canada its first loss after three straight wins.

The P.E.I. rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex and Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside plays twice on Tuesday against Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs in the morning and Steve Laycock of Saskatchewan in the afternoon.

Against Team Canada, the Casey team never trailed, building 2-0 and 4-2 leads while Simmons battled back to tie the game 2-2 and 4-4.
