First two draws held at P.E.I. Tankard
CHARLOTTETOWN – Defending-champion Adam Casey is off to a winning start in the 2016 P.E.I. Tankard provincial men’s curling championship at the Charlottetown Curling Complex.

Casey, who curls with third stone David Mathers, second stone Anson Carmody and lead Robbie Doherty out of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside and the Charlottetown Curling Complex, scored three in the first end and never trailed en route to a 6-3 victory over Charlottetown’s Robert Campbell of Charlottetown on Friday night.
In Friday night’s other game, Jamie Newson’s Charlottetown rink scored back-to-back deuces in the fifth and sixth ends and stole three points in a 7-3 win over Tyler Harris from Charlottetown and Montague.
In Friday afternoon’s opening draw, Harris scored four in the second end, took a 5-3 lead into the fifth-end break and defeated Eddie MacKenzie 10-4 from the host club.
Saturday’s action scheduled for 1 and 6 p.m., with Sunday’s two draws set to go at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Newson and Casey will meet in the A section final of the modified triple-knockout format on Saturday at 1 p.m.
