Curtis MacGregor tossed a complete-game, three-hitter to lead the P.E.I. Brewing Company Athletics to a 2-0 win over the Peakes Tee Sluggers in Kings County Baseball League action Sunday.
Jacob Smith had three hits to lead the Athletics while Josh Kirkpatrick and Randy Taylor chipped in with two each. Eddy Taylor batted 1-for-3 for the winners.
Mitch Power, Carter MacLellan and Luke MacDonald had the hits for the Sluggers.
Bruce Jay went the distance in suffering the loss.
Chevies 10, Expos 0
Grant Doyle struck out seven in throwing a five-inning, no-hitter and leading the host Morell Chevies to a 10-0 win over the East Royalty Expos in Kings Baseball League action Sunday afternoon.
Doyle, making his first start of the season, was in total command, his only blemishes a second inning walk to Ben Ladner and a hit batter in the third inning to losing pitcher Ryan MacLeod.
The Chevies grabbed an early
2-0 lead after the first inning on RBI singles by Desi Doyle and Troy Coffin. They extended their lead to 5-0 in the second on a two-RBI double by Jarrod Laybolt and an RBI by Grant Doyle.
Five runs in the third inning, highlighted by a Laybolt two-run homer put the game out of reach.
Laybolt finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs while Desi Doyle finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Grant Doyle picked up two hits.
The Chevies host the Freetown Mets Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
