Scott Ellsworth scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Morell Chevies a 10-9 win over the Peakes Bombers Wednesday night in Morell.
The Chevies jumped out to an early 7-3 lead after three innings against starting pitcher Colin Myers. However, the Bombers picked away with three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth off Chevy starter Quen Johnston to take an 8-7 lead. They would tack on a single run in the sixth inning as Colin Myers scored his third run of the game on a Matt Bradley sacrifice fly.
The Chevies tied it in their half of the sixth on a two-run triple by Desi Doyle. Troy Coffin would retire the Bombers in order in the top half of the seventh to pick up the win. Rob Phelan took the loss, pitching the final two frames for Peakes.
Myers, Bradley, Joe Gardiner, Brandon McInnis and Josh Coffin all had two hits to lead the Bombers. For the Chevies, Ellsworth was 3-for-3 with two walks, while Jarrod Laybolt and Coffin had a pair of hits.
The Chevies host the East Royalty Expos Sunday at 2 p.m. in Morell.
