Saint John sweeps Island juniors

The P.E.I. Carpenters Union Local 1338 Juniors lost 11-7 and 5-3 Sunday in New Brunswick Junior Baseball League action in Saint John, N.B.

Tyson Blue was the losing pitcher in the first game with relief from Colin Arsenault. P.E.I., which trailed 8-0 after one inning, narrowed the deficit to 8-7 in the fourth, but could not deliver the tying run. Nick MacPhail doubled and homered in three at-bats.

In the second game, Saint John scored single runs in each of the first five innings.

Brady Arsenault was the losing pitcher with MacPhail pitching a scoreless inning in relief. MacPhail recorded another two hits while Nathan McInnis was 3-for-3.

The Carpenters Union Juniors are in Charlottetown this weekend for the second annual Mitch MacLean/Tanner Craswell/Tabitha Stepple Memorial Tournament. They start the tournament Friday at 4 p.m. against the Dartmouth juniors.
