It’s stem-the-tide time for the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders when the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League club hosts the Hub City Brewers today in Charlottetown.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field where the Islanders (4-5) look to kill a four-game losing streak.
The latest loss came Sunday with a 4-3 decision to the Moncton Mets in Moncton, N.B.
Charlottetown was ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning but surrendered three runs in the frame and couldn't recover.
Tonight, Jake Beck (1-1, 4.31 ERA) gets the start on the mound for the Isles.
Hub City (2-4) is last in the six-team circuit and is coming off a 9-5 loss to the Saint John Alpines on Sunday.
Charlottetown defeated Hub City 8-5 in extra innings in the teams’ first meeting last month in Moncton.
Morgan MacLean and Brody MacDonald, each batting .333, lead the Islanders in batting while Taylor Larkin and Mark MacLean lead with five RBIs each.
Pat Godin (.462 batting average, four RBIs) leads Hub City.
In other league news, Kent Fulton of Saint John and Simon Boucher of the Mets are the player and pitcher of the week, respectively.
Fulton hit .750, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored a double and an RBI.
Boucher tossed a four-hitter in a 2-1 win over the Fredericton Royals. He struck out five Royals batters while walking two.
