Chevies stay undefeated, Brewers crush Mudhens in KCBL action

The Morell Chevies picked up a 3-1 win over the Peakes Bombers Sunday to improve to 6-0 on the Kings County Baseball League season.

Troy Coffin pitched the complete game, scattering eight hits and striking out five for his fourth win.

Josh Coffin took the loss, allowing three runs in the second inning on a bases-clearing double by Scott Ellsworth, the lone blemish on his complete game effort.

The Bombers broke up the shutout in the fifth on a Brandon McInnis single, his third base hit of the game. Jarrod Laybolt picked up a pair of hits for the Chevies.

Brewers 17, Mudhens 1

The Northside Gill Construction Brewers embarrassed a shorthanded Cornwall Mudhens squad 17-1 in five innings Sunday.

Mitchell Ryan threw a four-hitter with seven strikeouts to earn the win while Evan Myers hit a grand slam with five RBIs to lead the Brewers.

Nigel Fisher 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Jason MacLean 2-for-3 with four RBIs also led the Brewers.

Jay Shaw suffered the loss   with relief from Ewan Groman and Trevor Thistle. Thistle and Ira Banks each doubled for the Mudhens.
