Two Islanders are among the first players announced for Team Atlantic that will look to repeat at the Tournament 12 in Toronto from Sept. 16 to 20.

Middle infielder J.J. Oram and catcher Cole MacLaren were part of the 10-player roster announced Wednesday. Oram played for the team in 2013 that defeated Quebec Blue 7-4 in the inaugural Tournament 12 at Rogers Centre in 2013.

Also on last year’s squad were Darcy Affleck (Pisquid), Brady Arsenault (Summerside) and J.P. Stevenson (New Glasgow).

The tournament is hosted by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy, in collaboration with Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar.

Oram, 17-year-old Summerside native, is at Vauxhall Academy this year while MacLaren, a 16-year-old Morell native, played for the Okotoks Dawgs.

Seven additional roster spots per team will be named on Aug. 15, with the final tournament rosters being declared on Aug. 29.

Organizations: Rogers Centre, Blue Jays Baseball Academy, Vauxhall Academy

Geographic location: Summerside, Toronto, New Glasgow Morell

Well done lads. Love to see Islanders do well at the national stage at baseball. Now to convince Island kids to quit wasting their skills on soccer...
