The P.E.I. Youth Selects top of the order was almost perfect Thursday night against Manitoba.
The top four batters were a combined 9-for-10 and drove in six runs as P.E.I. improved to 2-1 at the Canada Cup in London, Ont. with a 8-1 victory.
"The batters did what we knew they were capable of when they were aggressive on good pitches," said assistant coach Corey Dougay.
Leadoff batter JJ Oran was 2-for-3, Dylan McKenna was 2-for-2, Will Slauenwhite 3-for-3 and Nick MacPhail 2-for-2.
Taylor Larkin walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
Spencer Horne threw a three-hitter and struck out seven for the win.
The Selects play Saskatchewan today at 5 p.m. with Brady Arsenault expected to start.
