Island Storm guard Terry Thomas, right, drives on Moncton Miracles forward Cordell Jeanty, a former Storm player, during Thursday's National Basketball League of Canada game at the Eastlink Centre.

Island Storm guard Terry Thomas will miss the next three to four weeks with a sprained thumb.

"This is certainly an unfortunate blow for our ball club and is really coming at a bad time, as I believe we have started playing better basketball as of late," said Storm coach Joe Salerno.

Thomas, a six-foot-four guard from Dartmouth, N.S., joined the team this season after one year of professional basketball overseas. In 23 games this season Thomas has averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds.

"Terry has played a big role for us this season, and really has been on our most consistent players on both sides of the ball," Salerno said.

The Storm returns to the Eastlink Centre on Thursday, March 17, at 7 p.m. when it hosts the Saint John Mill Rats.
