 The UPEI Panthers women’s basketball season is over.

The Panthers lost 76-65 Friday to the UNB Varsity Reds in an Atlantic University Sport quarter-final in Halifax.

Grace Wade and Rachel Cleary each had 15 points to lead the Reds.

Third-year Panthers forward Kiera Rigby had 16 points and seven rebounds while Anne Kiberd scored 14. Katie Donahoe and Tamara Tompkins each chipped in 13 points.

The Reds held quarter leads of 18-12, 34-32 and 54-46.

UNB shot 46.8 per cent from the floor compared to UPEI’s 33, but the Panthers scored 29 points on 21 Reds turnovers.

It was the final game for fifth-year players Donahoe, Kiberd and Tompkins, as well as Elysia Drost, who is graduating this spring.

    "gave it their all" too bad the coach didn't. This team should not have lost that game. They did not play their best basketball, and had some unlucky breaks. The story all season long. Need a coach
