Panthers unable to hold early lead against X-Men

The UPEI Panthers saw a 19-point lead disappear Friday night at the hands of the St. FX X-Men in Atlantic University Sport basketball in Antigonish, N.S.

The Panthers led 22-10 after the first quarter, were up 19 four minutes into the second quarter and took a 38-32 lead to halftime.

St. FX outscored the UPEI by 10 in the third to lead 62-58 heading to the fourth.

Julius Antoine and Kevin Bercy each had double-doubles for the X-Men. Antoine had 24 points and 11 rebounds while Bercy had 21 and 16.

Tyler Scott had 24 points for the Panthers by shot 29 per cent (7-for-24) from the field. Bradley States had 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting and added 10 rebounds while Dut Dut added 20 points and eight boards.

St. FX improved to 2-12 while UPEI falls to 10-5. The teams play Saturday at 4 p.m.
