The P.E.I. Privateers open up the Maritime Football League season at home next week and begin the march to improve upon last season, which was its best in the 10-year history of the club.

It starts when P.E.I. hosts the Capital Area Gladiators from Fredericton, on Saturday, May 31, at 4 p.m., at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall.

Other home games are Saturday, June 21, versus the Moncton Mustangs and Saturday, July 5, against the defending champ Saint John Wanderers.

All games kick off at 4 p.m. in Cornwall.

The Halifax Shockers dropped out of the league this season leaving four teams. Each remaining team plays six games, two at home and two on the road. P.E.I. finished 4-2 and in second place last year then lost the semifinal to Halifax.

This year’s McIntyre Cup championship game is Saturday, July 26.
