Western Capitals drop third game in junior hockey playoff series

The Summerside Western Capitals are in deep trouble in the Maritime Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The host Miramichi Timberwolves dropped the Capitals 9-6 Wednesday night to take a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven Roger Meek Division semifinal series.

Game 4 is Friday in Summerside at 7 p.m.

Joe Colatarci (1-2), Cavan Fitzgerald (1-2), Alex Bradley (1-1), Isaac Jay, Brad Power and Maxim Pitre scored for the Capitals. Blaze Bridges had three assists.

The Summerside club trailed 4-0 after the first period but got to within a goal of the Miramichi in the second period and again in the third.

Eric Walker led Miramichi with four goals.

Simon-Pier Chamberland and Alex Kelly faced a combined 35 shots for the Capitals while Clint Windsor faced 29 for the Timberwolves.
