The Saint Mary’s Huskies are a win away from being the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s basketball champions.
The Huskies kept their perfect season going with a 73-53 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday in semifinal play at UPEI. They will meet the winner of the late semifinal between the UPEI Panthers and the second-place St. F.X. X-Women.
Laura Langille and Rachelle Coward each scored 20 for the Huskies while Justine Colley added 16 points, eight assists, six boards, four steals and two blocks in 38 minutes. Langille also had eight rebounds.
Courtney Thompson led the Tigers with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Robbie Daley and Ainsley MacIntyre each added eight points.
The Huskies, who never trailed during the game, held quarter leads of 20-14, 40-24 and 57-35.
Saint Mary’s hit 42 per cent of its 64 field-goal attempts while Dalhousie was good on 31 per cent of its 67 shots. The Huskies were 12-for-29 (41.4 per cent) from behind the three-point line.
