Ringette P.E.I. hosting Atlantic championships

Ringette P.E.I. plays host this weekend to the 2014 Atlantic ringette championships which bring together the top high performance teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and P.E.I.

Age divisions are under-14, under-16 and under-19.

Play begins Friday at 11 a.m. at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown and 11:30 a.m. at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague.

Saturday features the under-14 skills competition and Sunday’s championship games start at 1:30 p.m. Both are at MacLauchlan Arena.

Two regular season games in the National Ringette League are also on tap as the Atlantic Attack and the Montreal Mission play Saturday at 2 p.m and 7:30 p.m.

Charlottetown native Breanne MacInnis is part of the officiating team for the NRL matchups.

Admission for the NRL games is $5 per adult, $2 per youth under 16 and free for all ringette players wearing their jerseys.

All games in Charlottetown will be streamed live online on Bell Aliant’s Community One channel.
