The Dalhousie Tigers outscored the UPEI Panthers by nine in the fourth quarter Saturday to pick up a 91-88 victory in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s basketball.
The Tigers led 22-14 after the first quarter, but trailed 45-44 going to halftime and 72-64 after three quarters.
The Panthers had won four straight games.
Kashrell Lawrence led the Tigers with 25 points off the bench while four of their starters scored double digits.
Ellis Ffrench with 23 and Donathan (Donnie) Moss with 22 led the Panthers. Ffrench added six rebounds, six steals and five assists.
The Tigers hit 24 of its 36 shots from the free-throw line while the Panthers were 11-for-14. Dalhousie held a 43-32 advantage on the boards.
UPEI (9-7) is tied for second place with the Saint Mary’s Huskies (10-5). The top two teams earn a first-round bye in the AUS playoffs. The Panthers and Huskies meet Saturday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m. in Charlottetown in a four-point game.
