NBL of Canada squad signs Dixon, releases Phil Jones

The Island Storm has signed centre Bilal Dixon from Jersey City, New Jersey, and released Phil Jones.

Dixon played his college basketball at Providence College in the Big East Conference. During two seasons he started 61 of 63 games for the Friars shooting nearly 52 per cent from the floor and grabbing almost seven rebounds a game.

He started this year with Abejas of the Mexican Pro League where he averaged over five points and five rebounds per game in nine contests while shooting 55 per cent from the floor.

"Bilal is a proven player from one of the top conferences in all of college basketball coming from the Big East,” said Storm head coach Joe Salerno. “He rebounds the basketball, can defend, and score from the low post. He has the size and mobility to be an effective big in our league. I'm very excited to have Bilal come on board. I think he will quickly become a fan favorite."

The Storm is at home Thursday at Eastlink Centre when the Moncton Miracles make a return visit for a 7 p.m. game.

How many times can you tweak a lineup before whatever team chemistry you had disappears? Tough for fans to get close to a team that has a revolving door on it's locker room. Maybe it's time for the guy with the itchy trigger finger to go........I doubt I'm the only one who hasn't gone to a game yet for this reason.
