Stayoutofmyaffair will be looking to deliver in evening top class as part of New Year’s Eve celebrations tonight at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash program starts at 7 p.m.
Kenny Arsenault will drive the Jason Hughes trained seven-year-old daughter of Astreos in the $2,000 Race 11 event for owner Robi Hughes of Stratford. She was a bang-up second in the Saturday top-class race to Pinner, and with him absent from the feature race today, the door is wide open.
Starting from Post 3, Stayoutofmyaffair gets the nod from race analyst Les MacIsaac.
“She's been more than holding her own against the bearcats and gets to face a few today that are moving up and from an improved post over her last couple,” MacIsaac said. “Top billing.”
She will face an evenly matched field with Doll R General (Mark McKinnon) from Post 2, and classifier Gerard Smith’s selection, Panacotta (Mark Bradley), with Post 4.
Also in the six-horse field is Maine invader Mr. Hallowell (Mike Stevenson), who is one of the fastest horses to ever race on P.E.I. with his 1:48.3 lifetime mark taken at The Meadowlands. The outside pair in the race are Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes) and PC Shockwave (Brian MacPhee).
A field of seven trotters lines up in Race 2 for a purse of $1,300 with MacIsaac favouring the Bo Sowers-trained and driven Ja El Blaze, owned by Ledgehill Farms of Ontario. The Post 4 starter was third in his Charlottetown debut, after hitting the top three in all four of his starts against pacers at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B.
His main competition comes from the outer posts in the seven horse field with Post 5 starts Delta Dental (Ronnie Gass) and Honeymoonisover (Brian Andrew) with Post 6.
The Race 12 backup pace has Blue Start Outlaw picked off the rail for trainer-driver Hughes and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge.
The seven-year-old son of Shady Character finished third his last start after being caught in the latter half of the mile.
Other top entries are McMaverick (Ken Murphy) and Bunny Mach (Arsenault).
