Justin Leemow has signed with the Island Storm

The Island Storm signed point guard Justin Leemow on Tuesday to complete the training camp roster.

The six-foot-one, 175-pound Leemow was selected in the third round, 28th overall, of this year's National Basketball League of Canada draft by the Storm.

Last season, Leemow helped lead the North Dallas Vandals to the ABA finals, averaging 18.6 points, and 7.7 assists per game. He was named to the ABA South West all-star team, as well as the ABA rookie of the year.

Leemow played for the University of Southern Florida from 2008 to 2010, before transferring to North Carolina Central where he averaged 4.6 points and 1.8 rebounds and four assists per game.

Storm head coach Joe Salerno looks for Leemow to be a strong competitor for a point guard role.

"Justin is just a great competitor, with a tremendous amount of talent. He has great court sense and vision. He is always aware of what is going on around him," said Salerno. "He has the ability to control a game and make his teammates around him better ball players. Guys on this team will love playing with guy like Justin Leemow."

The Island team now has 18 players reporting to training camp on Wednesday.

The Storm will hosting intra-squad games Oct. 19 at Westisle Composite high School, and Oct. 23 at Morell Regional High School. Both games  start at 7 p.m.
