The Bluejays are Prodigy Sports Men’s Fastpitch League champions after defeating the Marlins 6-5 recently to complete a sweep of the best-of-three series.
The Jays lefty Morgan McNeill brought his A game, pitching four strong innings and earning the win.
He was relieved by ace Steve Bishop, who shut the door the rest of the way. Jamie MacDonald started for the Marlins and suffered the loss before Mike Bishop went four innings in relief.
Steve Bishop led the Bluejays offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run while Jordan Ellis was 2-for-4 with a triple and Pat Thompson 2-for-4. Chris Craig (2-for-)3 and Craig Allin (2-for-2) were the top Marlins’ hitters. There will be exhibition games every Thursday night at 8 p.m. weather permitting.
