Tonight's game between Falcons, Abbies postponed

ABRAM-VILLAGE — The Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons received three points from a pair of players in a 6-3 victory over the Westeern Arsenault’s Fish Mart Red Wings on Tuesday night.

The Island Junior Hockey League contest, which was decided by three unanswered third-period goals by the Falcons, was played at the Evangeline Recreation Centre.

Patrick Brazil and Brady Cook each had two goals and an assist to lead the Falcons, who moved into sole possession of first place. The Falcons, who also received two goals from John Kirkpatrick, improved to 12-4-1. Sherwood is two points ahead of the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (11-3-1), who have played two fewer games than the Falcons.

Matt McQuaid (2), Craig Dougan (2), Brandon Birt and Willie Whelan contributed assists for the Falcons, who trailed 1-0 after the first period. The teams went into the second intermission tied 3-3.

Jeremy Balderson (2-1) and Tyler Clair countered for the Red Wings (7-9-1). Cleve McNeill (2), Dillon Wall and TJ Campbell added helpers.

Zack Gallison earned the goaltending win over Chris Gallant.  

 

Maniacs 6 Abbies 2

In other action Tuesday, the Montague Total Assets Fitness Maniacs downed the host Charlottetown Abbies 6-2.

A.J. MacInnis (2-1), Cole MacLeod (2), Colby Bruce (1-1) and Luke Collings scored for the Maniacs (8-10-0).

Assists went to Darcy Nicolson (2), Matt Patterson, Stephen Gould, Mitch Doiron and Tyler Rose.

Jordan Hughes and Matt Cox scored for the Abbies (5-11-0), while Matt Myers, Cody Dawson, Parker Diamond and Willie MacGuigan each had an assist.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and the Maniacs led 3-2 after the second.

Dan Nicholson was the winning goaltender.

 

Game postponed

Tonight’s game at Cody Banks Arena between the Falcons and the Abbies has been postponed due to player injury and travel. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
