Editor: It was disappointing to hear the story of the town council and the artist commissioned to paint murals for the town of Kensington.

I have had commissions many times, and it is not hard to calculate the hours to be spent on a commissioned work. If this is too hard for an artist, then she should not even consider taking on the project, and it is definitely unethical to ask for further funds after an amount has been agreed upon. And no, Anne, look again, you are not a plumber.

Furthermore the Town of Kensington supports a vibrant art gallery in the old train shed, housing about 20 artists. They have collaborated and painted murals for the train shed itself, and I do not understand why the town did not ask this group to do the murals they wanted. I know that for a certainty they would have been treated with more consideration and respect.
