Editor: Two contracts to do ditch infilling by Island Coastal Services for a total of $1.7-million was approved 9-0 by city council. Coun. Terry Bernard, chairman of the public works committee says the work is part of the ongoing effort to provide the same level of service for all capital residents.

This is hogwash because no ditch infilling is being done in my area of the city and no ditch infilling should be done anywhere in the city. This is an extravagance promised to some residents when the city expanded its borders but now we can’t get Council to stop because it’s a great vote getter for those councillors seeking re-election.
