Editor: First I want to congratulate the East Coast Music Association for another great week of showing Islanders and Atlantic Canadians the great musical talents of our region. I participated Thursday thru Sunday and had a very good time. Some of the venues were a little crowded and sold out early, but I suppose that is a good thing. The first event I attended where I bought a beer was the “Musical Heroes” show at the Delta. Buying the beer was not a problem so long as you didn’t want an east coast beer and didn’t mind paying $7 each. I was shocked — here we are celebrating fine east coast music and we are forced to buy only Molson products. Yes, all the sanctioned stages were selling only Molson products during their events. I realize a closed market gets the ECMA stages a better price, probably a lot better, but then to go and charge above and beyond regular daily pricing is a lot to ask and leaves a bad taste in my mouth, pun not intended. I suggest that the ECMA committee in future open liquor sales to all providers so consumers can make their own choices, and please charge a realistic price for your beverages. Looking forward to next year at ECMA in St. John’s.
